We’re excited to announce that National Night Out will be taking place at Somerset Apartments on Tuesday, August 6 from 5pm to 6pm.

National Night Out is a nation-wide event held to:

  • bring awareness for crime prevention
  • develop support and participation in anti-crime programs
  • strengthen partnerships between police and the community
  • send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

We will be hosting the event near the barbecue/pool area near the front of the Somerset Apartment complex and are looking forward to a great event.

The Chino Police Department and Target will be visiting local neighborhoods to provide information on police and city resources.  They will be giving away FREE stuff.

If you’re interested in attending this year’s event and would like to get a feel for what the event has in-store watch this video from last years National Night Out Event.

Looking forward to having a great event!  Hope to see you all there!

On August 7th, the City of Chino, along with other cities in the region, participated in the National Night Out. The country-wide event is organized by the National Association of Town Watch, and aims to increase crime and drug prevention by getting local residents more involved. Last year over 37 million people in over 15,000 communities took part in the event. As part of the National Night Out communities held block parties, festivals, rallies, town meetings, and even parades.

Somerset Apartments was proud to welcome the local police and fire department who gave out crime prevention and safety information, as well as educated residents about the different programs the city has available for residents. Aside from demos and information, there were also raffles and lots of giveaways. The city-sponsored event was only one of 22 events held within the city. From organizations such as local churches and Target (official sponsor) to neighborhood watches, people from all over were getting together to promote safety and bond with their neighbors. With so much going on, there was plenty of food and entertainment for everyone.

The National Night Out got its start back in 1984 and has been happening every August since then. Every year there are more and more communities and people participating. It’s not only a good way to make residents more aware of safety, but it also allows neighbors to come together and get to know each other better. With neighbors looking out for each other and working together with the police, residents can lower crime in their communities. Last year Chino Hills ranked 32nd for participation compared to other cities of the same size, and Ontario came in 5th. Clearly So-Cal residents are enthusiastic about getting involved and showing their support for law enforcement. Best of all, these events are always free.
